Kids posing with their ropes

The Nemaha Central Elementary School participated in its annual Jump Rope for Heart event on Wednesday, January 25. The first through fifth graders participate and try to raise money for the American Heart Association.  The goal this year was set high at $11,000. As a school, they fell a little short but still raised an amazing amount of $10,048.

This event is to encourage students to stay healthy through physical activity and to raise money for others in need. As students raised money for the American Heart Association, there were prizes for them depending on the total amount of their donations. Students have a goal and they try to reach it so they can receive the prize of their choice.

During the event, there were different stations in the gym where the students could participate in. The stations were jump ropes, laps around the gym, an exercise video, a resting time, another set of jumps, and the rock wall climb. During their break, students refueled their energy with apples and water. Music was also played in the background by Eagle Sound, for the students to have an enjoyable experience.

“My favorite part was the jump rope challenges and getting the prizes,” said Paxton Stallbaumer.

The students enjoyed their Jump Rope for Heart experience. They were able to get some great physical activity, receive prizes, and raise money to help out others.

“The apples, the music, and doing the rock wall were what I enjoyed,” said Tatum Snyder.
