Some second graders at the Discovery Center

Before the end of the school year, the second grade students from Nemaha Central Elementary School went to the Discovery Center in Topeka for their field trip on Thursday, May 12. The teachers accompanying them were their classroom teachers, Mrs. Odette Helm, Mrs. Heidi Holthaus, and Mrs. Amber Meyer.

First thing in the morning, the students arrived at school and soon left for their field trip. The teachers allowed the students to explore the Discovery Center as they pleased. There were many stations available such as an art station, Ramp Racing, Illumination, Grain station, as well as an outdoor park. They explored the Discovery Center before boarding the bus and heading to Holton for lunch. After lunch, the students enjoyed playing at the park before returning to school.

Rylee Summers said, "It was a lot of fun and I would go again. My favorite thing was the doctor's area."

Evan Ross said, "The air area was really fun because you can catch the balls that blow out of the pipes."

Overall, it was a great day and students enjoyed learning with hands-on stations.
