Preschoolers walking in.

The Nemaha Central Elementary School hosted the preschool and transitional kindergarten Lyrics and Literacy Night on Tuesday, March 8. Each class sang four songs in the NCEMS Gym. Mrs. Melinda Jones and Mrs. Shelly Schmelzle instructed the preschool students and Mrs. Chelsey Haverkamp assisted with the transitional kindergarten class.

First up was Mrs. Jones' preschool class. The preschool entered the gym to the song Happy. Next, they sang and danced to “The Penguin Song,” “Bop Until You Drop,” “Dr. Knickerbocker,” and “Baby Shark.” Then after they finished singing all of the songs, the preschoolers brought their parents and guests back to their classroom. Each student gave their guests a tour of the classroom and a piece of artwork they had made.

Jolie Sherrill said, "It was funny and it was exciting!"

Next up was Mrs. Schmelzle’s preschool class.  They also sang the same songs as Mrs. Jones’ students. The preschoolers brought their parents and other guests to the classroom to present them with an “Owl Always Love You” picture and to show them the things they have been learning throughout the year.

The last performance of the night was Mrs. Carla Hajek’s transitional kindergarten class. The students sang and danced to the songs “You’ve Got to Sing,” “I Am A Pizza,” “Alice the Camel,” and “Penguin Polka.” After they finished singing, they also brought their parents and other guests back to the classroom to give them a tour and show their parents some artwork.

Griffin Hiltgen said, "We did pretty good!"

It was a great night for the students and parents to get together and enjoy some great music and dancing at NCES.
