Parent and Child having fun

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, kindergarten through fifth grades at Nemaha Central Elementary School had a night of fun. Families of these classes played games that the students had played during physical education class at school.

Kindergarten through second-grade parents and students participated in games and activities for the earlier part of the evening. The event started with some hula hoop activities that require people to move in different directions and in different ways (hop, jog, jump, etc.). The parents and students also played with parachutes and did different activities with them. The evening ended with a couple of the students’ favorite tag games and Chaos Soccer!!

Rhett Romney, a first-grade student stated, “I had lots of fun. I got to do a lot of stuff like chaos soccer, we got to do color tag too.”

In the later part of the evening, parents and students of third through fifth grade participated in activities and games that the students either do or will do during class. The students and parents practiced some jump rope skills, played some fitness tag, and then played a few games that the students like to play. Those games consisted of a couple of tag games and then ended the evening of fun with a game of parents versus kids dodgeball!

Audrey Sudbeck, a student in fourth grade said, “It was so much fun. When we got there, Mr. Bass was saying that we will get to do some fun activities. We played dodgeball. Parents were better so they won.”

It was an exciting and fun night.  I hope not too many parents woke up sore the day after. It’s always fun to see parents re-enjoying games and activities that maybe they once played when they were in school. Also, it’s good to see families interacting and doing something healthy!
