The Nemaha Central Middle School wrestling team traveled around an hour to Elwood where the Riverside Middle School hosted a double dual meet Tuesday, November 9. The three schools present at the meet were Oskaloosa, Riverside, and NC. Many wrestlers did well for a fairly short meet.
Here are the records from Riverside for the seventh grade:
Harry Langill wrestling at 80 pounds went 0-1; Isaac Heinen wrestling at 90 pounds went 0-2; Harper Foster wrestling at 90 pounds went 1-0; Mason Schultejans wrestling at 100 pounds went 1-1; Brady Koch wrestling at 105 pounds went 1-1; Gus Rusche wrestling at 105 pounds went 1-1; Colten Corby wrestling at 110 pounds went 1-1; Conner Lueger wrestling at 115 pounds went 2-0; Caleb Hynek wrestling at 120 pounds went 2-0; Kalem Schmelzle wrestling at 165 pounds went 2-0; and Kyler Ganstrom wrestling at 165 pounds went 1-0.
“You don’t have to be big to wrestle, but you just have to have a big heart,” Conner Lueger said thoughtfully.

Layton Thomas wrestling at 110 pounds went 2-0; Jordan Lewis wrestling at 115 pounds went 1-0; Sebastian Randall wrestling at 120 pounds went 1-0; Jayden Seitz wrestling at 134 pounds went 2-1; Cameron Strathman wrestling at 148 pounds went 0-3; Carter Hajek wrestling at 180 pounds went 1-1; Daniel Childress wrestling at 180 went 1-0; and Cole Lyons wrestling at 180 pounds went 2-0.
Layton Thomas said, “We did really well. We won more than we lost.”
As a whole, the meet was pretty successful. Most wrestlers did well and will continue to improve. This is another step in working towards their goal of being the best team in their league.
