NCMS 7th Grade Volleyball Girls Pose for a Picture

The seventh-grade volleyball girls from Nemaha Central Middle School headed their way to Jeff West Middle School, which is in Meriden for the Big 7 League Tournament. As they made their way there, the seventh-grade girls were pumped and ready to win the tournament!

The seventh-grade girls faced Sabetha for their first match and won 25-20. In their second set of the match, they played hard and almost had the same score as last time, winning  25-22. This was the first win of the day for the Thunder team.

After winning the first match, the next opponent was Jeff West. The Thunder girls were ready to play and beat the Tigers. In the first set, it was a battle until the end and the Thunder team came up short losing 26-28.  The Thunder team was determined to win their second set. In the second set, they tried their hard to achieve the win but didn’t pull through, losing 19-25.

“Even though we didn’t win, we still gave it our all and it was fun!” said Maggie Jones.

In their third match of the day, the Thunder team was ready for a win to get out of pool play. They were up against the Holton Wildcats. The Thunder girls played hard and went all out to win the game. Sadly, in their first set, they lost a close one, 23-25. In their second set, they tried their best to keep up with the Wildcats, but could not regain the momentum, losing the set 14-25.

“It was fun getting to go and cheer on my teammates. Although we didn’t place, we had fun jamming out in our classroom. It was a super close game with most of them, we had some great comebacks, but not enough to win. As long as we had fun and played our hardest is all that matters,” said McKenzie Rottinghaus

Even though the girls didn’t have the day they wanted, they tried hard. They had a fun time at the tournament and look forward to improving their skills and taking another shot at the tournament next year.
