A family at Open House

The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School hallways were filled with excited students and their curious families at Open House on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Many were touring their classrooms, opening their lockers, and walking down hallways. This year, Open House was more thrilling than any other year because there were new additions for the younger grades! Most of the elementary and preschool teachers moved their classrooms to other areas of the school. Students were attending Open House in search of their new classrooms.

Elementary school students couldn't wait to meet their new teachers for the year! Most students in the elementary grades have lockers in their classroom and were excited to fill them  with school supplies. Some younger grades that were in the new addition were thrilled to have new bathrooms, more area to roam, and new classrooms. The younger students toured their classrooms to see how their teachers decorated and to find the desk they were assigned.

Fourth grader, Esther Woods commented, “Meeting my teacher was my favorite part of Open House this year.”

Middle school students scanned over their schedules, class list, and locker combinations. Some students were great with their locker combinations while others needed some help. As the new sixth grade students walked the middle school hallway, the seventh and eighth grade students knew their way around,  so they chatted with their friends and said hello to their teachers.

“Seeing my friends was my favorite part of Open House,” said Rowan Williams, sixth grader.

Seventh and eighth grade athletes couldn’t wait to start the year off with fall sports. Elementary and preschool students were thrilled to be in the new addition. Students are very excited for new opportunities in this upcoming school year!
