Sabetha Hosts Fun Run for Cross Country Meet

The Nemaha Central Middle School  cross country runners headed for Sabetha, their school rivals, to compete on Thursday, October 10. This week, runners ran more of a fun run that was open to any student in grades 3 through 8. The runners ran less than usual because it was a fun run, so the actual distance was around a mile. The other schools competing were Jackson Heights, Saint Marys, Horton, Kickapoo Nation, ACCHS, Royal Valley, and Sabetha.

There were 35 runners in the boys competition and NCMS runner Lane Mosteller for the boys came in first with a time of 7:29, while Joe Korber finished around 20th with a time around 9 minutes. Korber's results were approximate since the weather caused some chaos in keeping track of finishers.

For the girls fun run there were 18 runners and out of the 18 runners Maddy Mosteller came in second with a time of 8:07, Hailey Nordhus got fourth with a time of 8:21, and Presley Lutz came in sixth with a time of 9:14.

All in all, the NCMS cross country team had an amazing fun run with several of the runners finishing at the top. The NCMS cross county team did an outstanding job at this meet and several of them improved their times. As the season winds down, they hope to be running their best at the end.

“It was very cold and I am glad I ran well,” said Presley Lutz.
