NCES Annual Careers on Wheels

The Nemaha Central Elementary School rolled out its annual Careers On Wheels program on Tuesday, September 24, for viewing by kindergarten through fifth grade. Careers On Wheels is a great program and gives students a chance to think about what they want to do for work when they get older.

The Game Warden, Lucas Arnold, was there to show the students his cool equipment and teach them about safety for being outside. He let the students see what the inside of his truck looks like with all the equipment attached.

Seneca Ready Mix sent Nick Rider to teach students about concrete and the process of how it is made. He explained the difference between concrete and cement. Cement is a powder like substance that is used in concrete to make it stronger and have a better base.

Bergman Remodeling had Eric Bergman teach the students about construction and construction safety. He brought a lot of tools and other safety equipment to show. He talked about proper safety for when you are on top of a roof and what to do if you fall off.

The city of Seneca sent Justin Knowles to teach the students about safety when working with electrical lines. He showed the students the special insulated gloves they have to use when working to keep themselves safe. He explained how the equipment has gotten better throughout the years and explained what the tools and equipment do.

Colton Heinen from Heinen Brothers Agriculture Services taught the students about equipment and the things they do for their partners. He explained how the equipment works and how they serve each partner.

The Nemaha County Coop sent Kevin Bergman to teach the students about chemicals and the important role they play in plant growth. He told the students about the process of testing if something is safe to use for crops.

All in all, the Careers on Wheels was a great chance for the students to learn about a few different career choices when they get older. The different job choices are so amazing. The students will have a hard choice in the future.

“It was more fun than last year because they had newer things,” said Caleb Hynek.

“I thought it was really cool because there were a lot of people from last year,” said Cole Ranieri.
