Alexis Tangeman Going Up Strong

The Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team was excited to play their county rivals, the Sabetha Bluejays on Monday, November 7. It was the Thunder's second home game of the season and NC was ready to defeat the Bluejays. 

The NC 8th grade A-team girls started off the first quarter with amazing passes but struggled to make their shots. The girls played good defense and did well only getting 1 foul in the quarter. The score at the end of the first quarter found the Sabetha Bluejays up 4-6. NC came back in the second quarter to take the lead, 14-10. The Lady Thunder team expanded their lead in the third quarter and was up 18-12 by the end of the quarter. The girls ended the game holding the Bluejays scoreless in the fourth quarter to win the game with a score of 23-12. 

Austin Jones said, “It was a really good game, and we worked hard to win the game.”

The Lady Thunder 8th grade B-team started the game off with a small lead in the first quarter, 4-2. In the second quarter, both teams got their offense going making several more baskets and it was halftime with a score of 17-10. Sabetha cut into the Thunder lead in the third quarter, but the Thunder was still up at the end 21-16. The fourth quarter was the best quarter for the Thunder girls because they made several baskets. The Thunder team came away with the victory with a score at the end of the game of 31-18. 

The NC 7th grade A-team had a phenomenal start to the first quarter up 13-0. The second quarter was awesome as the Thunder scored a lot of baskets and played really well on defense. NC ended the second quarter with a dominant lead, 24-2. In the third quarter, NC only let the Bluejays score 2 points while they racked up a lot of points again to end the quarter 35-4. The Lady Thunder did an excellent job playing defense in the fourth quarter holding the Bluejays at 4 points to end the game with a victory, 39-4. 

Alexis Beebe-Dishong said, “I can tell that our whole team was excited to play this game, we played really well from the start to the end.”

NC’s 7th grade B-team had an outstanding game. They played phenomenal defense in the first quarter keeping the Bluejays scoreless. The score at the end of the first quarter was 9-0. The Lady Thunder made a lot of points in the second quarter, giving them a dominating lead of 27-4. The third quarter was another great offensive quarter for the Thunder as they scored several baskets again, increasing their lead to 42-4. In the fourth quarter, NC didn’t score as many points but held the Lady Bluejays by playing great defense. The ending score of the game was 46-4. 

It was an amazing night for the Thunder, with all the teams coming out with a win!
