There was an eighth grade A-team game, seventh grade A-team game, and a combined seventh and eighth grade B-team game.  All the games were played in the main gym at Nemaha Central High School.

The seventh grade A-team started off the night against the Tigers. The Thunder team used a lot of effort in the first quarter as they scored 10 points against Jeff West. Entering the second quarter, the girls were ready to rack up a few more points and did just that. The score at halftime was 21-4 with a big Thunder lead.

After halftime, the Lady Thunder was ready to play hard and increase their score. They pushed themselves and scored 14 points in the third quarter. When the final quarter started, the Thunder girls were ready to get the win. They ended the game with a score of 37-4.

Kinsey Monier said, “I’m always excited for every game, but I wasn’t very worried about the Jeff West game. I know we have only had a few games, but I feel like we are playing really well together and am excited for the rest of the season.”

After the seventh grade A-team played, the eighth grade A-team hit the floor. The Thunder had a slow first quarter but that did not stop them from playing great defense. The score at the end of the first quarter was 4-2 with a Thunder lead. Entering the second quarter, the girls were ready to play hard and score more points. However, the quarter ended with NC only scoring 2 more points making the halftime score 6-2.

After halftime, the team was ready to go again. In the third quarter, NC racked up 6 more points. The Lady Thunder was ahead by 5 points at the start of the fourth quarter, 12-7. The Thunder team held their ground in the fourth quarter and ended the game with a final score of 18-9 to get the victory.

“The first half was rough, but we came back and played hard in the second half. We came out with the victory,” stated Alexis Spring.

The next game to be played was the combined B-team game. The Thunder girls struggled to score in the first quarter and were trailing at the end 2-5. In order to do well in the second quarter, the Lady Thunder needed to play great offense and defense. The Thunder tried to pick up the pace but found themselves trailing 4-13 at halftime.

After getting a small halftime break, the Thunder athletes were ready to get back on the court and try to catch up. They played hard in the third quarter but they were still struggling to score. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 6-20. The girls tried hard to catch up to Jeff West, but the game ended 7-24 with a Thunder loss.

Overall, the Thunder athletes played really well. The girls still have many games to learn and improve on new skills.
