The second graders at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School invited their mothers to school for a tea party on Friday, May 6. The party consisted of a play and songs performed by the students as well as cupcakes, punch, and gifts.

“My favorite thing was the punch and the mints,” said Conner Henry.

The play was titled “It’s Mom-Sense!”, and their three songs were named “Zip-a- Dee-Doo—Dah,” “You’re a Grandest Mom,” and “Hey Mama.” The gifts mothers received were a keychain and a book of writings by their child centered around mothers.

“The mothers day program was so special and absolutely perfect!” said Ashley Holthaus.

Mother’s Day is an awesome opportunity to honor our lovely mothers and all they do for us. The second graders loved being able to organize the event and the mothers loved getting recognition for all their hard work. Mothering is one of the hardest jobs in the world and we shouldn’t take our mothers for granted.
