The Nemaha Central Middle School track athletes made the long journey to Clay Center to compete in their second track meet of the season on Tuesday, April 19. NC competed against the teams of Abilene, Beloit, Clay Center, Clifton-Clyde, Eisenhower, Fort Riley, Marysville, Minneapolis, and Wamego adding up to 10 teams competing overall.

Seventh Grade Girls Results:

High Jump: Payton Huerter, 2nd, 4’ 6”

Javelin: Ella Huerter, 2nd, 69’0"

Discus: Hailey Meyer, 6th,  58’ 2.5"

1600 Meter Run: Marin Heinen, 3rd, 6:50

“Even though it was cold I still think that we did great against bigger schools,” Jordan Lewis.


Amazingly, Jade Macke broke the previous 8th-grade girls javelin school record of 73’ 1” putting it at 87’ 10” throwing nearly 15 feet more.            

For NC’s scores the 7th-grade girls Placed 8th, the 7th-grade boys placed 2nd, the 8th-grade girls placed 9th, and the 8th-grade boys placed 8th. Overall, on an individual level, the track meet was satisfying for the competitors.
