Kalem Schmelzle Takes a Shot on Opponent

The Nemaha Central Thunder wrestling team headed to Holton for a double duel on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. This was their last meet before the Big 7 wrestling championship tournament.

Harry Langill wrestling at 80 pounds went 1-0; Isaac Heinen wrestling at 90 pounds went 1-0; Colten Corby wrestling at 105 pounds went 0-1; Layton Thomas wrestling at 110 pounds went 0-1; Conner Lueger wrestling at 115 pounds went 3-0; Jordan Lewis wrestling at 115 pounds went 1-2; Sebastian Randall wrestling at 120 pounds went 1-0; Caleb Hynek wrestling at 127 pounds went 1-1; Jayden Seitz wrestling at 134 pounds went 2-1; Cameron Strathman wrestling at 141 pounds went 0-2; Cole Lyons wrestling at 165 pounds went 1-1; Kalem Schmelzle wrestling at 165 pounds went 0-2; Carter Hajek wrestling at 180 pounds went 1-0; and Kyler Ganstrom wrestling at 180 pounds went 1-0.

“They were tough opponents, but we battled hard,” said Cole Lyons.

The overall records for the wrestlers are as follows: Harry Langill is 12-3; Isaac Heinen is 6-7; Colten Corby is 2-7; Gus Rusche is 6-8; Layton Thomas is 6-10; Conner Lueger is 12-4; Jordan Lewis is 6-12; Sebastian Randall is 14-4; Caleb Hynek is 16-6; Jayden Seitz is 8-11; Cameron Strathman is 5-11; Cole Lyons is 7-6; Kalem Schmelzle is 10-5; Carter Hajek is 14-0; and Kyler Ganstrom is 13-2.

“The meet was incredibly hard, but we persevered,” said Colten Corby.

The Thunder wrestlers had a great showing at Holton in these tough matches. The NC wrestlers have improved so much since the first meet and hope to do well at the upcoming league tournament.
