Seventh grade Student Showing the Toys they Purchased.

A few of the students from Nemaha Central Middle School decided that they were going to set up a fundraising event for the Nemaha County Toy Drive. They thought about what they were going to do to raise the money for it, and what came to their minds, was pancakes.

The Pay it Forward Pancake event occurred at school on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Students in middle school along with staff members could purchase a pancake for $1 per pancake with a maximum of 2 pancakes.  They began preparing for the event around 7:15 AM and prepared many pancakes for the students. Students enjoyed pancakes and a cup of juice before kicking off the day's events.

“I thought it was pretty cool that they were willing to give up their time so that I as well as others could get pancakes,” said Jayden Seitz.

Ali Henry and Makenzie Howard planned and organized the event and had several other seventh-grade volunteers help. The fundraising event total ended up being $200.30 to donate to the Nemaha County Toy Drive.  A couple of parents matched the donation so that more toys could be purchased and the girls picked out some toys for the Toy Drive.

“It went pretty good, we raised more than I thought we would," said Ali Henry.
