Kailey Mady Dribbling Around a Perry Defender

The Nemaha Central Middle School Lady Thunder team took on Perry with a home basketball game on Thursday, November 11.  It was a great night for Thunder basketball as NCMS claimed all 4 games as victories.

NC had a good start in the eighth-grade A-team game. They doubled their score against Perry’s, scoring 10 points while Perry scored 5. The second quarter traveled down much the same path for NC, as they added 7 more points to their total, combatting Perry’s 4. The score at halftime was 17-9 with a Thunder lead.

The third quarter also went very well for the NC girls, they almost doubled their score by earning another 15 points. It didn’t go as well for Perry as they only scored 2 more points. Both teams powered through the last quarter, NC scoring another 9 points and Perry scoring 4. The final score was 41-15, with NC being the victors.

Jolie Jones said, “We fought hard and are proud of what we accomplished.”

The eighth-grade B-team game started off evenly, as both teams scored 4 points in the first quarter. NC took the lead in the second quarter by scoring 10 points while Perry scored 3. The halftime score was 14-7 with a strong Thunder lead.

Again in the third quarter, both teams scored 4 more points, making the total score 18-11. NC scored more points in the fourth quarter, adding 6 points while Perry only scored 2. NC won the game with the final score of the game being 24-13.

The seventh-grade A-team started the game off on a good note, scoring 6 points during the first quarter while Perry only managed 4. NC expanded their lead in the second quarter, adding 7 points to their score. Perry scored 3 more points that quarter, making the halftime score 13-7. 

Perry did not score in the third quarter, however, NC scored 6. The score before the final quarter was 19-7. Perry tried hard in the fourth quarter, but only managed 2 more points. The Lady Thunder added 8 more, blowing Perry out of the water and winning the game 27-9.

During the seventh-grade B-team game, the Lady Thunder team started out with an early lead of 6-2. In the second quarter, Perry did not manage to score any more points. NC, however, scored 5.

The third quarter started with a score of 11-2, and similar to the second quarter, Perry did not score any more points. NC scored 6 more, to make the score 17-2. During the fourth quarter, Perry scraped up 3 more points, making their total score for the game at 5 points. NC ended this quarter with 7 more points and a total score of 24. This was another great victory for the Thunder team with a final score of 24-5.

“We fought hard and came out with a win,” Austin Jones said.

All four teams worked hard and had good teamwork during their games. All four teams played very well and destroyed Perry. Hopefully, the NC girls will be able to keep up this momentum throughout the rest of the season. Have fun and good luck, girls!
