The Nemaha Central Middle School Thunder wrestling team headed to Perry-Lecompton on Monday, November 1, 2021, ready for their meet. The Thunder team had eighteen wrestlers attend the meet at Perry. For some, it was their first meet, but for others, it was their second one.
Harry Langill wrestling at 80 pounds went 3-0; Isaac Heinen wrestling at 90 pounds went 2-1; Harper Foster wrestling at 90 pounds went 3-0; Mason Schultejans wrestling at 100 pounds went 0-3; Brady Koch wrestling at 105 pounds went 2-1; Gus Rusche wrestling at 105 pounds went 2-1; Colten Corby wrestling at 110 pounds went 0-3; Layton Thomas wrestling at 110 pounds went 3-0; Jordan Lewis wrestling at 115 pounds went 1-2; Conner Lueger wrestling at 115 pounds went 1-2; Sebastian Randall wrestling at 120 pounds went 3-0; Caleb Hynek wrestling at 120 pounds went 3-0; Jayden Seitz wrestling at 134 pounds went 0-2; Cameron Strathman wrestling at 148 pounds went 1-2; Kalem Schmelzle wrestling at 165 pounds went 0-3; Kyler Ganstrom wrestling at 165 pounds went 1-2; Carter Hajek wrestling at 180 pounds went 3-0; and Cole Lyons wrestling at 180 pounds went 0-3.
“Most of us did great, but we all have things to work on,” said Sebastian Randall.
The overall records for the wrestlers are as follows: Harry Langill is 5-1; Isaac Heinen is 2-3; Harper Foster is 4-1; Mason Schultejans is 0-3; Brady Koch is 2-1; Gus Rusche is 3-3; Colten Corby is 1-6; Layton Thomas is 4-2; Jordan Lewis is 2-5; Conner Lueger is 1-2; Sebastian Randal is 7-0; Caleb Hynek is 7-1; Jayden Seitz is 1-4; Cameron Strathman is 3-3; Kalem Schmelzle is 3-3; Kyler Ganstrom is 3-3; Carter Hajek is 5-0; and Cole Lyons is 0-3.
“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up or not, and we got up,” said Brady Koch.
The Thunder wrestlers did great at Perry. They hope to keep this up throughout the season.
