NCMS Track School Record Breakers

The Nemaha Central eighth grade track team headed to Sabetha and the seventh grade track team headed to Royal Valley for the Big East League Meets on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The Big East schools competing at the meet were Nemaha Central, Royal Valley, Holton, Sabetha, Hiawatha, Jeff West, Silver Lake, Atchison, Riley County, Rossville, St. Marys, and Perry-Lecompton. The following are the results from the league meet.

Seventh Grade Girls Results

“It was fun placing at the hardest meet we’ve ever been to!” said Kaden Sperfslage.

The weather was perfect for the final meet of the year, and the middle school athletes performed very well at the league meet to conclude the season.  Since this was the first year for the new league, Cora Langill set the record for the 3200 meter run with her first place finish.

Several athletes broke the NCMS track records this season.  In eighth grade, Cora Langill broke the 3200 meter run record.  The seventh grade girls broke 2 relay records.  The records were the 4 x 200 meter relay with members Maggie Sudbeck, Logan Honeyman, Audrey Sudbeck, and Lillian Deters, and the 4 x 100 meter relay with Maggie Sudbeck, Tatum Snyder, Logan Honeyman, and Lillian Deters.  In seventh grade for the boys, the relay team consisting of Brentlee Pfanenstiel, Dustin Knowles, Grady Schmelzle, and Levi Holthaus broke the sprint medley record, the relay team consisting of Brentlee Pfanenstiel, Levi Holthaus, Dustin Knowles, and Evan Spring broke the 4 x 100 meter relay, Will Martin broke the 800 meter run record, and Grady Schmelzle broke the javelin record. Congratulations to these athletes!
