In honor of Mother’s Day, the second grade students at Nemaha Central Elementary School held a tea party for their moms on Friday, May 9, 2025. Mrs. Amber Meyer, Mrs. Katie Heiman, and Mrs. Heidi Holthaus, the second grade teachers, organized the Tea Party. At the Tea Party, students had many activities planned to celebrate their mom.
The three second grade classrooms had been practicing songs to sing to their mothers. The songs were "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah," "You’re the Grandest Mom," and "Hey Mama." The songs went great and after the songs, they performed a Mother's Day play called Mom Sense and played a voice guessing game. After the game, they had delicious cookies, cupcakes, and punch with their mothers. Lastly, they finally gave their mothers their gifts for being amazing mothers. Happy Mother's Day!
“I liked doing the songs for my mom, and I liked having the cupcakes,” said Emmalynn Deters.
Fredric Hermesch said, “My favorite part was the juice and the cookies. I also liked the gifts we got for our mothers.”
It was an amazing Mother's Day Tea Party with the wonderful bright weather. The students hope all their mothers enjoyed their Mother’s Day Tea Party.
