It's a new school year at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School. On Thursday, August 15, the doors opened for the first time for the 2024-2025 school year. Students were excited to be in a new grade, meet their teachers, and see their new classrooms. With a new school year, students will have the opportunity to create lifelong friendships and valuable memories.
The middle school students had an assembly in the gym on the first day. They talked about expectations and rules. Students learned more about their teachers by playing the game Two Truths and a Lie. After the assembly, students went to their homerooms with their new classmates. Many classes played games to kick off the year. The sixth graders met all of their new teachers throughout the day.
“The first day was fun and we played lots of games,” said Tatum Huerter, a sixth grade student.
Students from preschool to fifth grade started their first day of elementary school by getting to know their new teachers and classmates. Some of the students were nervous but thanks to the teachers they overcame their fears. They played lots of games and enjoyed downtime on the playground for recess.
“My favorite part was recess, it was really fun,” said Vonn Krause, a second grade student.
The first day of school was a great day for all grades. Some students had big milestones such as starting their first day of preschool, while others started their first day of middle school. Many students were full of excitement for the school year and all the activities to come!
