The NCMS Lady Thunder Takes on the Sabetha Bluejays

The Nemaha Central Lady Thunder girls basketball team met up again with the Sabetha Bluejays on Monday, November 25. After this game, the Lady Thunder will only have three games left in the season.

The eighth grade Thunder A-team came out in the first quarter in the lead scoring six points, while keeping the Bluejays at five. They fought hard in the second quarter but gave up the lead to the Bluejays ending the first half down, 10-13.

The Thunder team came out with force against the Bluejays and scored twelve points making the score at the end of the third quarter 22-18, with the Thunder leading again. They battled the Bluejays until the end, but came up short by one point, ending the game 26-27.

The eighth grade Thunder B-team started the quarter well, and just like the A-team ended the first quarter with the lead, 6-5. In the second quarter, the Thunder team played excellent defense keeping the Bluejays scoreless, meanwhile, they scored eight more points making the score 14-5.

When the eighth grade B-team started the third quarter the Thunder, once again, kept the Bluejays scoreless while scoring ten more points for themselves. In the final quarter, the Thunder team allowed the Bluejays six more points but were able to score fourteen more points. The final score of the eighth grade B-team was 38-11, ending the eighth grade games with a win.

Makenna Sloop said, “Even though we came up a point short in the A-game, we tried our hardest, but we did much better in the B-game.”

The seventh grade Thunder A-team managed to score five points in the first quarter while keeping the Bluejays at only four, and taking an early lead. In the second quarter, the Thunder scored eight more points and they only let the Bluejays score three more points. They finished the first half leading with a score of 13-7.

The seventh grade Thunder A-team came out in the third quarter and scored four more points but they allowed the Bluejays to score the same. However, they kept the lead in the third quarter making the score 17-11. They let up a little bit in the final quarter, letting the Bluejays score seven points, while the Thunder only scored six. But the Thunder team finished the game with a win, 23-18. 

The seventh grade Thunder B-team started the first quarter out strong scoring ten points and they only allowed the Bluejays to score two points. The Thunder continued to do great in the second quarter, scoring four more points, while keeping the Bluejays scoreless. They ended the first half ahead, 14-2.

When the seventh grade Thunder B-team came back out in the third quarter, they scored ten more points, and they played excellent defense keeping the Bluejays, once again, scoreless. They ended the fourth quarter scoring four more points while keeping the Bluejays scoreless. They finished the game with a win, 28-2.

The Lady Thunder finished the night with three wins and only one loss. Great job Lady Thunder!
