NCMS Volleyball Finishes Regular Season with Riverside

The Nemaha Central Lady Thunder faced the Riverside Cyclones in volleyball at the Nemaha Central High School Gymnasium on Monday, September 30. The Thunder team was ready to play hard and get a few wins on their court.

The seventh grade A-team was up first to play. They won the first set with a score of 25-5. In the second set, they were victorious again with a huge margin winning 25-8. In the last set, the Thunder team really dominated with a score of 15-1. The seventh grade A-team went undefeated this year, winning every match for a record of 7-0.

“It was very exciting to be undefeated this year,” said Kaitlyn Hammes.

The seventh grade B-team was up next and they were excited to get on the court. The team did very well in the first set, winning big with a score of 25-6. The second set also went well with the Thunder girls dominating the court with a score of 25-7. They were cut short a few points in the last set, with a score of 13-15. Ending the season with a win, the seventh grade B-team went undefeated this year also.

The eighth grade A-team had started the game off on a good note. They won the first set and the score was 25-7. The team continued playing well in the second set and won with a score of 25-21. They polished off the season and won the last set, 15-8. The eighth grade A-team’s record this year was 3-4 in the Big 7 League.

“We did really good and I feel like we played as a team,” said Mya Ganstrom.

The eighth grade B-team was up next and ready to play just as hard as the A-team. The Thunder won the first set with a score of 25-8. The second set went just as well and the team was on a roll winning 25-10. Finishing the match with the last set, the Thunder picked up the win with a score of 15-7. The eighth grade B-team also were undefeated with a 7-0 record.

The NC teams had some great volleyball throughout the season.  The seventh and eighth grade A-team's will finish off the season with a Big 7 Tournament in which they both hope to win this season.  Good Luck Lady Thunder!
