Transitional Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Family Night

The Nemaha Central Elementary School hosted a Family Fun night for students and their families in transitional kindergarten through second grade.  The event was held on Monday, January 23 in the NCEMS gymnasium. The transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students were there from 6:30 to 7:10. Next, the first and second grade attended from 7:20-8:00.

Students and parents participated in some of the activities the students have done or will be doing in class.  For this event, they did some movement activities with hula hoops, jumped rope, and played a couple of fun games of tag that the students like to play. They also got the parachute out and played some of the all-time great games with it.

Stella Hammes said, "It was fun, the games were fun too and I had a great time.”

The first and second grade students and their families played bean bag tag, fitness tag, and they played with the parachute. Mr. Cory Bass, the physical education teacher,  explained what the students do in class to stay fit.

Kasen Dishong said, "It was really fun and the games were fun.“

Family Fun Fitness night is a great way to get families to exercise together. It is also a way to show families what activities their children are doing during PE class. Hopefully, this encourages families to be active.
