NCMS Volleyball Opens with Tough Opponent

On Monday, August 31, the Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team stepped on the court for the first time of the season. The NC Thunder team consists of 10 seventh graders and 11 eighth graders.  The managers for the team are Alayna Scism and Emma Henry and the coaches are Nikki Honeyman, Carly Hill, and Lisa Holthaus. The girls in both grades were extremely thrilled to be playing volleyball once again.

Unfortunately, all four teams lost these first games. The eighth grade A-team played hard, but still lost their first match in three tough games 25-19, 23-25, and 7-15.

Zoey Sudbeck said, “It was very exciting to play a volleyball game with another team, and finally get some competition in.”

The eighth grade B-team stepped on the court ready to go, but they also lost their first match 23-25 and 12-25.

The seventh grade was ready to play their first volleyball game in the Big 7 League. Sadly, they lost their first match after playing 3 games with scores of  25-17, 10-25, and 9-15.

Jolie Jones said, “Although we lost, we still had fun and enjoyed it.”

The seventh grade B-team was also ready to be playing their first Big 7 League match. The Thunder girls lost their first match again in 3 games with scores of 25-19, 20-25, and 5-15.

All-in-all, these girls got out on the court excited to play volleyball.  Almost all of the teams won their first game, but just could not keep that going to win the match.
