The Thunder girls went into the Royal Valley game looking for a clean sweep. The eighth grade A-team was looking for redemption, while the eighth-grade B-team was looking for one more win. Meanwhile, the seventh-grade teams were looking to add another win to their record. The eighth grade A-team record is 8-6 and the B-team record is 9-1 entering the Royal Valley game. The seventh grade A-team record is 13-1 and the B-team record is 11-1. The girls wore their "Team Schnak" shirts as warm-up shirts to help spread awareness of Type 1 Diabetes.
In the eighth grade A-team first quarter, the Thunder girls came out with amazing defense and superb offense. The Thunder girls scored seven points while holding Royal Valley at two points with cunning defense. The score in the first quarter was 7-2. Going into the second quarter, the Thunder girls were fired up. Right off the bat, the Thunder girls scored another seven points. Royal Valley was still trying to figure everything out but managed to score a few measly points. The score going into half time was 14-4.
In the third quarter, the Thunder girls were ready to win. The Thunder team was dominating on offense and defense scoring another seven points. Royal Valley was still having some trouble on offense, but the Thunder slipped up and allowed them a basket. The score at the end of the third quarter was 21-6. The third quarter was again an outstanding quarter of offense and defense. Royal Valley only managed to gain a few more points in the fourth quarter, but their defense was better. Royal Valley only let the Thunder girls score four points to end the game. The final score of the game was 25-9.
Going into the first quarter of the eighth-grade B-team game, the Thunder girls were ready to secure another win. The Thunder came out with a solid offense and managed to score six points. On the other hand, their defense was not so superb. The Thunder girls managed to hold Royal Valley off by a one-point difference. The score of the first quarter was 6-5. In the second quarter, the tide had turned for the better. NC came out ready to blow away Royal Valley. Their offense was terrific, but their defense was even better. Royal Valley only managed to get a point to fall in the bucket, unlike the Thunder team. The Thunder girls scored another six points before halftime. The score going into halftime was 12-6.
The B-team came out ready to dominate the court after halftime. They scored seven points to put a bigger gap between them and Royal Valley. Royal Valley only managed to score three more points in the third quarter, making the score 19-9. The final quarter was very slow with both teams only managing to score two points the whole quarter. The final score of the game was 21-11.

The seventh grade A-team started the first quarter ready to crush Royal Valley. They started great on offense scoring eight points against Royal Valley. Royal Valley was having a little more difficulty on offense but still scored six points. The score in the first quarter was 8-6. The second quarter was a different story for the Thunder girls though. Royal Valley amped up their defense and the Thunder team could only get one shot to fall into the hoop. Unfortunately for the Thunder girls, Royal Valley was going to make the most of the opportunity. Royal Valley took control of the game after scoring seven more points. The score at halftime was 10-13.
The Thunder girls came out after halftime ready to regain the lead. Their defense was stellar and they stopped Royal Valley from getting any shots in the hoop to keep their lead. Unlike the Thunder girls, Royal Valley was not doing the greatest and NC scored four points to take control of the game. The third quarter score was 14-13. The final quarter started out slow with nobody managing to score. Soon after, the Thunder girls got a few points on the board, but Royal Valley was close behind. The Thunder girls managed to score four points in the last quarter. The Thunder team stopped everything but two free throws that Royal Valley made. The Thunder girls squeaked by the Panthers with the win, 18-15.
Due to the number of players, the seventh-grade B-team only played two quarters. The seventh-grade B-team started the first quarter strong scoring eight points. The Thunder was doing great, but Royal Valley was close behind. Royal Valley scored four points on the Thunder defense, but that was all they could get in. The score of the first quarter was 8-4. The final quarter was awesome! The Thunder girls came out ready to win the game, and it definitely showed. Straight away, NC scored eight points and only let Royal Valley score four points. The game ended with NC coming out victorious, 16-8.
Bianca Frye said, “The game was exciting and fun and we all worked hard on our offense and defense.”
In conclusion, everybody had a victorious night at the last girl’s basketball home game. The girls hope to go out strong against Riverside in the next game. All the eighth-grade girls were sad that it was their last home game of middle school, but in good spirits for next year.
