NCEMS Cross Country Runners

The Nemaha Central Middle School Cross Country athletes participated in their first cross country meet on Saturday, September 7. Those who participated in the 8th grade were John Langill, Joe Korber, and Hailey Nordhus. Seventh-grade participants were Lane Mosteller, Maddy Mosteller, Kaden Peterson, Will Nolte, and Presley Lutz. The team is coached by Jon Thomas.

The cross country runners jogged the course to get a feel of the course and be ready to run. The runners then warmed up and got ready for the race. The runners ran a two-mile course at the Marysville Golf Course. The runners had to run up hills and around trees to the finish line. Out of 52 male participants, John Langill finished in 8th place with a time of 14:00, Lane Mosteller finished in 15th place with a time of 14:35, Kaden Peterson finished in 21st with a time of 15:19, Will Nolte finished in 37th place with a time of 17:46, and Joe Korber finished in 41st place with a time of 18:31. Out of 28 female participants, Hailey Nordhus finished in 5th place with a time of 15:51, Maddy Mosteller finished in 6th place with a time of 16:05, and Presley Lutz finished in 14th place with a time of 18:14.

The cross country athletes had an amazing start to the season. They started the season with what many say, to be one of the toughest courses for cross country. The athletes still have room to improve and hope to improve times as the season continues.

“It was fun because I ran well.  I think I will enjoy the upcoming meets,” said Lane Mosteller.
