The eighth grade A-team started the game off slow on offense and defense. At the end of the first quarter, the Thunder team was trailing with a score of 6-9. The second quarter was about the same as the first quarter as the Thunder girls were outscored again 4-7. The score at the end of the quarter was 10-16 with the Cyclones still on top.

After halftime, the Thunder team came out ready to score. The team got a few easy baskets, however, the Cyclones did too. The score at the end of the third quarter was 18-25. In the last quarter, the Thunder team needed points, but they only managed to score 2 points. The ending score was 20-26 with the Thunder coming up a little short.

“Even though we lost, we know what we need to work on, and will hopefully beat them next time,” said Anna Hermesch.

In the first half of the eighth grade B-team game, the Thunder team played awesome defense and offense. They scored many baskets and the score at the half was 16-0. The Thunder team’s offense and defense after halftime was great also. They scored 17 points in the second half. The score at the end of the game was 33-2.

On the seventh grade side of things, the Thunder girls came out ready to win. They started the game off pressing and stole the ball many times, getting easy lay-ups. Their defense did really well, and the score at half was 24-2. After halftime, the Thunder took off their press. They didn’t score as many baskets, but they did not let up on defense. The score at the end of the game was 30-2.

The seventh grade B-team did just as well as the seventh grade A-team. The Thunder team played aggressively and scored many points, while only allowing the Cyclones 2 points. The score at halftime was 24-2. The team came out and played just as well in the second half. They added another 18 points to their score. The score at the end of the game was 42-2.

“We did really good on defense, and we are hoping to beat them next time,” said Presley Lutz.

In conclusion, the Thunder teams played very well against the Cyclones. The eighth grade A-team, is looking forward to a rematch against the Cyclones. Also, the eighth grade team knows what they need to work on before their rematch.
