NCMS Volleyball Team Picks up some Wins at Hiawatha

The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team traveled to Hiawatha on Thursday, September 14 to take on the Red Hawks. The girls were ready to play and ready to win. Unfortunately, only the eighth grade A-team and eighth grade B-team won their matches.

The eighth grade and seventh grade played in the same gym at Hiawatha. The eighth grade A-team played first and NC won a close one, 25-22 in the first game. They won the second game 25-14. The teams matched up for a third game and, again, the Thunder came out on top, 15-6.

Hallie Holthaus said, “We started out rough, but we stayed with them and took home the win!”

The eighth grade B-team played next and the Thunder team won by going to an extra point, 26-24. The Thunder was victorious in the second game with an amazing score of 25-12. The teams then played a third game, and yet again, the Thunder won 15-10.

The seventh grade A-team played first on the other net, while the 8th grade played. The Thunder girls dropped the first game 17-25 and again, the second game turned out the same with a 17-25 loss. The Thunder girls were able to keep the third game close, but they were just short of winning, 14-16.

Kamryn Ranieri said, “We did come up short of a win, but we’ve learned to also give it our all and never give up early.”

The seventh grade B-team played next on that court. The Thunder’s first game was a close one, however, they lost 24-26. In the second match, they were able to rally back and win 25-18. Their third game didn’t go as well, as they lost 13-15.
