NCMS Picks up some Wins Against Perry-Lecompton

The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team played Perry-Lecompton on Thursday, September 3. All of the girls were ready to play and come home with a victory. Unfortunately, only the eighth grade A-team and seventh grade B-team won their matches.

The eighth grade team played in the main NC high school gym and the seventh grade game took place in the secondary gym at the high school. Eighth grade A-team played first and started it off winning 25-8. NC performed just as well in the second game winning 25-12. The girls played a third game also, winning 15-6.

The Thunder eighth grade B-team had a good run but just couldn’t come out on top in their match. They went back and forth with Perry, just losing by 3 points coming out 22-25. In the second game, they got their groove back and won 25-18. The third game was a lot closer with NC just barely coming up short with a score of 11-15.

Emmery Schmelzle said, “It was really exciting to play with my teammates, and get some playing time in.”

To start the seventh grade, the A-team played first. Perry was a tough team to play against and they showed it winning the first set 11-25. NC came back a little in the second, but Perry still came out on top winning 18-25. The third match was even closer just coming up short by 3 points losing 12-15.

The seventh grade B-team played great against Perry winning all three sets. In the first set, the B-team dominated Perry winning 25-11. They struggled a little in the second, but still came out on top winning 25-19. In the third game, they finished it off winning 9-15.

Jade Macke said, “It felt amazing when we won!”
