NCMS Cross Country Travels to Hiawatha for Second Meet of the Season

The Nemaha Central Middle School cross country team traveled to Hiawatha for their second meet of the season on Friday, September 18. Both the seventh and eighth grade participants ran a 2-mile race. The meet was hosted by Hiawatha at the Hiawatha Golf Course. Participating teams include: Holton, Silver Lake, Royal Valley, Atchison County, Hiawatha, Everest, and Doniphan West.

The runners prepared by walking the course and warming up. The seventh grade race got delayed 15 minutes due to a team showing up late. After the delay, the seventh grade took off and started the second meet of the year for the Thunder Cross Country Team. Bob Langill was again the only seventh grade participant and he placed 6th with a time of 14:08, there were a total of 24 seventh grade boy participants. On the eighth grade girls’ side of things, Maddy Mosteller placed 3rd with a time of 14:09 and Presley Lutz placed 10th with a time of 15:49, there were 22 girl participants. Now flipping over to the eighth grade boy’s race, Lane Mosteller placed 2nd with a time of 12:24 and Kaden Peterson placed 7th with a time of 13:02, there were a total of 24 boy participants.

“Even though the course was difficult, I still had fun running,” said Lane Mosteller.

The participants all improved their times even on one of the more hilly courses of the season. The participants still look to improve in their upcoming meets as the season progresses.
