NCEMS Winter Pep Rally

The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School hosted a pep rally for the boys basketball team on Thursday, January 9. The pep rally started off with videos for the football, volleyball, cross country, girls basketball, and wrestling teams.

“I thought the sports videos were well put together and entertaining,” said Kate Heinen.

After the videos were over, the cheerleaders did a cheer to get the crowd in the Thunder spirit. Next, there was a summary of the sports that just ended before winter break. The eighth grade girls basketball team ended their season 8-6. The seventh grade girls basketball team ended their season as Big 7 League Champs. The wrestling team ended their season placing 3rd in the Big 7 League Tournament.

The boys basketball coaches were up next and they talked about how the season was getting started and how the boys were working hard in practice. The boys basketball team was called down to be recognized. Then, the cheerleaders had the boys play a relay game with the seventh grade versus the eighth grade. In the game, the boys were partnered up and they had to walk with a ball between them in a relay race. If the ball dropped, they had to start over. The eighth grade won the game by quite a bit.

“I thought it was fun to watch them play the game” said Miles Kuckelman.

Finally, the pep rally ended with the traditional V-I-C-T-O-R-Y cheer. The first grade was declared the winner of the cheer and received the spirit stick. Good luck this season to the boys basketball teams!
