The Nemaha Central Middle School wrestlers woke up early to travel to Concordia to participate in a wrestling meet on Saturday, November 16. There were five teams competing at the meet. This meet was going to be their hardest meet yet, but that did not stop them from doing their best. This meet was also going to be different due to having a minute and a half compared to the usual one-minute long period.
NCMS had 7 seventh-graders competing at the meet. At 90 lbs, Issac Barrett won one match and lost three putting him in fourth place in his weight class. At 95 lbs, Luis Lambrecht won two matches and lost two putting him in fourth place in his weight class. At 110 lbs, Dayton Nelson was unable to win a match, while losing four, putting him in last place for his weight class. At 134 lbs, Ayden New won one match and lost three putting him in seventh place in his weight class. At 148 lbs, Peyton Ross won one and lost two matches putting him in seventh place in his weight class. At 155 lbs, Spencer Lockhart was unable to win a match, while losing two, putting him in ninth place in his weight class. At 165 lbs, Abram Keim won one match and lost three putting him in fourth place for his weight class. As you can see from the results, the meet was very competitive for the NC wrestlers.
“We all did pretty decent but there are some things we could work on,” said Dayton Nelson.
NCMS had 5 eighth-graders competing at the meet. At 100 lbs, John Langill won two matches and lost two putting him in third place in his weight class. At 105 lbs, Miles Carpenter won one match and lost two putting him in fourth place in his weight class. At 120 lbs, Dalton Childress won two and lost three putting him in fifth place in his weight class. At 215 lbs, Abe Hilbert won two matches and lost one putting him in second place for his weight class. At 265 lbs, Holden Bass won all four matches putting him in first place for his weight class. The eighth-grade wrestlers have really improved and they competed well at this tough meet.
“It was a great day, we had a lot of competition, and we all handled it great and did awesomely,” said Holden Bass.
NCMS wrestlers are getting much better as the season advances and hope to succeed in their future meets. They have been training very hard and getting in great shape in order to succeed on the mat.
