Early Out Mondays at NCHS

September 26, 2016

Early Out Information

Back in August, the Building Leadership Team met and decided to do early outs on Mondays for the month of September as a trial period.  Seminar was moved to late so that students would be missing Seminar and not regular class time, and students could leave at 2:30 if they qualified.  In order to qualify for an early out, a student cannot have any tardies during the previous week,  they cannot have any missing assignments or be failing any classes.  At our recent Building Leadership Team meeting and staff meeting we decided to continue with the Monday early outs.  If a student qualifies for an early out but does not want to leave the building, they have the option of going to the library or the secondary gym.  Anyone who is required to stay for the early out must report to the commons area.  While in the commons, teachers are there to help students who are behind in their work.

What is an early out?  Students who qualify get to leave school early.  They do not miss any class time because Seminar is moved to the end of the day.

When do early outs take place?  Each week on Monday.

Who gets an early out? Students who had no tardies the previous week, no missing work, and are not failing any classes.

How does an early out work?  Students who qualify can leave once attendance has been taken during Seminar.  Everyone else must report to the commons area and work.

Why have early outs?  It holds students accountable for tardies, missing work, and allows struggling students to get extra help.
