The 4th graders at Nemaha Central Elementary School held their annual famous Kansans day on Tuesday, January 29. A few weeks in advance the fourth graders chose what famous Kansan they would present on. This year’s class is quite a bit larger than previous grades with 49 students, so they really had to brainstorm to come up with different people. For the project, students had to do some research on their famous Kansan to include in an iMovie. Some information they could include was, which city they were born in and why they are famous. Along with creating an iMovie, they would dress up to portray their Kansan for the presentation part.

"It was fun to dress up," said Carson Edelman.

In the afternoon on Kansas Day, the hallways at Nemaha Central were crowded with many students of different ages eager to learn about the famous people from their state. Some of the famous Kansans included historical figures, inventors, and athletes. Amelia Earhart, Dan Carney, and Paul Rudd were just a few of the Kansans the 4th graders were portraying. Great job to all the 4th graders on their amazing projects.

Haley Wood said, "I thought it was fun to choose our own person to dress up as."
