NCMS Girls BB Team Gets Clean Sweep Against Royal Valley

    The Nemaha Central Middle School basketball girls visited Royal Valley on Thursday, November 29 prepared to play another game against them. Their last night of basketball against Royal Valley was a clean sweep, so NC was ready to bring home 4 more wins. The eighth-grade A-Team started their first quarter making six points, while Royal Valley trailed only making two points. In the second quarter, The Lady Thunder was increasing their lead by scoring eight points to Royal Valley's three points. NC wasn't letting Royal Valley catch up anytime soon.

    Halftime came around and it was an NC lead of 14-5! The third quarter was a little closer scoring by both teams, but the Thunder team was able to score 4 points to Royal Valley’s 3. The last quarter found the Lady Thunder dominating the Panthers. NC added 11 points while Royal Valley scored 3. It was another Thunder win 29-11!

    The eighth-grade B-team was pumped up to play their game. They started with 8 points in the first quarter, while Royal Valley scored 6 points. The Lady Thunder added another 8 points in the second quarter as Royal Valley was falling behind only scoring 4 of their own. The halftime score was 16-10 and NC was winning. NC was playing hard in the third quarter getting 10 points, and the defense was able to leave Royal Valley scoreless! In the last quarter, the scoring was about even. NC finished the game with the victory, 34-16.

    "It was a good and fun game," said eighth-grader Elena Gonzalez 

    The seventh-grade A-team started off well in the first quarter, both offensively and defensively, scoring 8 points and holding Royal Valley scoreless. In the second quarter, the Lady Thunder team was still hot offensively scoring 8 points while Royal Valley made 4 points.  Royal Valley was trailing in the game 16-4 at halftime. The Lady  Thunder team went to the locker room and discussed their next move. Halftime was over and the Lady Thunder team was ready to shoot some more baskets. In the third quarter, the Lady Thunder team added another 8 points to their score while Royal Valley only scored 5 points. The third quarter ended with NC leading by 15 points, 24-9. Royal Valley scored a little more in the fourth quarter to cut the NC lead, however, the Thunder team went on to win 28-17. In the end, the Nemaha Central Lady Thunder team added another win to their record.

    The seventh-grade B-team started off a little faster than the seventh-grade A-team because, in the first quarter, they scored 10 points while Royal Valley only scored 4 points. In the second quarter, the Lady Thunder scored 9 points with 4 players getting a bucket in the quarter. At halftime, the score was 19-4 with a big Thunder lead. In the third quarter, the Lady Thunder scored 8 points, which were made by Alyssa Frye and Hailey Nordhus, while holding Royal Valley scoreless.  In the fourth quarter, NC managed to add 6 more points to their score while Royal Valley only added 2 points. The final score was 33-6. With this win, the NC Lady Thunder team managed to get another clean sweep against the Panthers.

    Makenna Sloop said, "We had a great time and we played really well."
