The Nemaha Central Parent Teacher Organization hosted a taco bar on Thursday, November 15. The taco bar replaced the spaghetti supper that they have sponsored in previous years. The event was held during the middle school girls basketball game against the Hiawatha Redhawks.

The PTO officers, Jill Mady, Valerie Edelman, Courtney Carpenter, Dari Hilbert, and Karla Kramer helped organize the event. The PTO wanted to try something different and wanted to see if the taco bar would be more productive for raising funds. Parents involved in PTO were asked to sign up to work a shift or bring items needed for the taco bar.  Shelia Mitchell helped with the taco meat and the lettuce and the parents brought in tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, sour cream, cheese, and desserts. The local State Farm Agency donated the cups and plates for the event. The price of a ticket was $5 and you could build your own salad with the toppings.

The PTO served 375 people and it raised around $3000. The proceeds will be used to fund school assemblies, school shirts, staff appreciation gifts, classroom supplies, and more.

"The food was amazing, I liked the switch it was something different," said Elena Gonzalez.

"The food was yummy," said Corabelle Langill.
