The book fair is a time to get students involved in READING!! This year's book fair was held from October 31 through November 9. This book fair was held at the Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School library, which has been the same location for many years.

A book fair usually has more than just books. They also have fun pencils, posters, journals/diaries, calculators, and many more interesting items for students. Many schools like ours, have a reading goal for each student and the students try to reach it in a certain amount of time. Holding a book fair gives students the opportunity to pick out books they like.  There are different types of genres and reading levels of books in the book fair. They range from chapter books to children’s books to picture books. Books can be a great present for birthdays and Christmas gifts.

Students had time during their scheduled library time to browse through the book fair and make out a wish list. Besides being open during school hours, the book fair was open Thursday, November 8 in the evening for parents who don’t have time during the day to come check it out. The book fair was also here during the Veterans' Day program for students to come in with their guest from the program to purchase books.

The book fair raised over $5,000 for the NCEMS school library. The Meltdown, from the creators of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Collectors series were the most popular books this year. The book fair was a hit with the students and hopefully will be continued each school year.

Lacie Young said, “There was a lot of varieties of books for younger students and older students.”

Hunter Fleagle said, “There were a lot of books!”
