NCMS Cross Country Team Participates in Fun Run at Sabetha

    The Nemaha Central School had numerous competitors attend a Fun Run held by Sabetha on Thursday, October 4. The Fun Run was open to grades 3-8. The girls started at 4:00 p.m., while the boys started at 4:15. They ran ¾ of a mile on the Sabetha golf course. Nemaha Central had one girl competing, Elena Gonzalez. There were 6 boys, Joe Korber, Brandon Rogers, Miles Carpenter, Jack Holthaus, Kaden Peterson, and Brady Koch. The teams competing were St. Marys, Jackson Heights, Royal Valley, Riverside, Rossville, Nemaha Central, Baldwin, Sabetha, Kickapoo, Horton,  and ACCHS.

    “It was a very hilly terrain, but it was fun,” said Kaden Peterson.

    “The course had some steep hills, but I had my eyes on the prize,” said Jack Holthaus.

    The girls' division had 34 competitors. Elena, eighth grade,  finished with a time of 5.00, which put her in 12th place. The boys had 46 competitors. Finishing first for Nemaha Central was fourth grader, Brady Koch, who finished in 9th place with an astounding time of 4.10.  Following Brady was Miles Carpenter, seventh grader, who finished in 12th place with a time of 4.14 and sixth grader, Kaden Peterson placing 14th with a great time of 4.19. Seventh grader, Joe Korber had a good run with a time of 4.36 finishing 21st and Brandon Rogers, eighth grader, crossed in 25th place with a time of 4.46.  Jack Holthaus ran his first meet of the season due to an injury early in the season.  Jack finished the race in 36th with a time of 5.16.  The runners all had a fun time competing at the Sabetha Fun Run.
