The last game of the regular season for the Nemaha Central Middle School Girls Volleyball teams was held on Monday, September 24. This was an away game at Riverside, home of the Cyclones. For the Lady Thunder, it was the 4th away game of the season. All teams were having an awesome season in their new league, the Big 7 League. Even though the season was short, the level of performance by the Thunder girls was high.

Starting off the matches were the 8th grade A team, who easily picked up a set win against the Cyclones with the score of 25-7. Most of the Thunder players served well and the Cyclones had difficulties passing the ball back over the net. The second set started off a little rocky, but NC went on a roll to win the set, 25-10. The Lady Thunder A team played the third match, winning yet again with the score of 15-2. The Lady Thunder A team ended the season undefeated with a record of 12-0.

The 8th grade B team followed after the last set of the A team. The first set was very close with NC winning with a score of 25-22. The second set gave the Lady Thunder a little space to breathe with NC winning 25-14. In the third and final set, the Lady Thunder gave the Cyclones a tough level of play but lost 12-15. The 8th grade B team had a different record because they did not participate in the Axtell tournament, so they also had an undefeated record of 7-0.

“We played a good game, to be undefeated champs of the season,” said Keirston Saenz.

The 7th grade A team won by a ton, blowing Riverside out of the water, 25-6 in the first set. Riverside had difficulties passing the ball over the net and the Thunder team was serving well. The other sets were just about the same with the Thunder winning 25-8 and 15-3. The sets were not that exciting, but the Lady Thunder were still prepared for Riverside and the future Big 7 league tournament.

"We played a really great game. It really wasn't a game to remember, but we were still ready," said Mya Ganstrom.

Following the 7th grade A team was the 7th grade B team match. The 7th grade B team started off the match strong, carrying that strength throughout the set giving them a win of 25-13. In the second set, the Lady Thunder won 25-10. The third set the 7th grade B team won one last time 15-10. The 7th grade A and B teams both finished with a record of 6-1 on the season.

After finishing the regular season, the Lady Thunder 7th and 8th grade teams will both play in a league tournament.  Both teams have goals of winning the tournament!
