NCMS Participates in Cross Country Meet at Hiawatha

    The Nemaha Central Middle School Cross Country Team ran their hearts out at the third cross country meet of the season in Hiawatha. The meet was held on Thursday, September 13 on a hot and humid summer day. NC faced off against, Hiawatha, Riverside, Silver Lake, Atchison, Everest, Holton, Falls City, Kickapoo Nation, and Pawnee City. All of the NC athletes did well and tried their best. 

    There were 29 runners in the seventh-grade boys division. Miles Carpenter ran his first meet of the season and was the first Nemaha Central runner to finish with a time of 15:53 to place 11th. Joe Korber ran with a time of 18:37 and placed 22nd for the seventh-grade boys. In the eighth-grade girls' division, Elena Gonzalez ran with a time of 15:44 and placed 9th out of 16 in the eighth-grade girls division. It was a great meet for NC and the athletes hope to keep improving their times as the season progresses.

    "Everyone ran good and I am proud of them," said Elena Gonzalez.
