Jackson Heights held a middle school cross country meet on Monday, September 10. The girls started at 4:00 PM while the boys started at 4:20 PM. It was a 3200-meter course on a very hilly terrain. Nemaha Central only had one girl competing, Elena Gonzalez. There were two boys NC boys, Joe Korber and Brandon Rodgers. The NC team were up against runners from Royal Valley, Pleasant Ridge, Holton, McLouth, Horton, Jackson Heights, Jeff West, Doniphan West, and  ACCMS.

“It was a good race. I was three seconds slower than last year so it made me upset, but I had fun,” said Brandon Rogers.

The girl's division had 8 competitors. Elena finished with a time of 22:00.18, which put her in 6th place. Brandon finished with a time of 18:10.84, that placed him at 11 out of 15. Joe had a good run with a time of 20:10.84. He ended up placing 24 out of 31.  Miles Carpenter, the other cross country runner from NC, could not complete because he, unfortunately, had a knee injury. He is working his way back and hopes to be ready to go for the next meet.
