The football boys at Nemaha Central Middle School were pumped and ready for the football game that afternoon on Thursday, September 6. The football game was against Perry Lecompton, about an hour and thirty minutes away. This game was the farthest game away in the football season. The football team was hungry for another win since they rolled over Jeff West last week.

When the football team arrived, they were pumped for their game.  While they were getting ready on the field, coach selected players to go out on the field for the toss. The four players who were picked were Cooper Hajek, Brendon Feltner, Cayden Edelman, and Chase Korber. Nemaha Central lost the toss and Perry Lecompton elected to receive, so NC was kicking first.

In the first quarter, Chase Korber intercepted a pass and on the next drive the Thunder drove down the field and scored a touchdown. The Thunder team was able to convert for another two points. After a hard fought first quarter, the score ended 8-0 with a Thunder lead.

The second quarter was also a tough quarter for both teams.  NC and Perry were playing great defense and were preventing each other from scoring.  However, the Thunder team finally had a good drive in the quarter to score a touchdown and were perfect on the conversion for 2 points. The Thunder boys would take a 16-0 lead into the halftime break.

After halftime, the Thunder offense cruised on through the third and fourth quarters scoring 3 more touchdowns. Perry was fighting hard to answer back.  They were able to get their offense going after halftime and the Kaws also scored 3 touchdowns in the second half of play. The second half had a lot of offensive drives by both teams that ended in touchdowns. The final score of the football game was 36-22 and the Thunder football team is now 2-0 on the season.

The Thunder boys were excited to get the win, but they also suffered a loss to a member of their team in the fourth quarter. The Thunder running back, Korbin Macke broke his collarbone due to a tackle and would be out for the remainder of the football season.

“The game was an interesting one to play in. I had a lot of fun,” said Reid McKee.

“I think the team played excellent,  offensively and defensively,” said Chase Korber.
