“Pass, Set, Hit, That’s the way the Lady Thunder likes it.”  This is a favorite chant that the Nemaha Central Middle School Volleyball team cheers to get them pumped up for the volleyball game. The NC volleyball team challenged the Perry Kaws on Thursday, September 6.

The NC Thunder volleyball 8th grade A team started off the season with a BOOM. They dominated the Kaws in all 3 games.  The scores of the first two sets were almost identical with the Thunder winning 25-12 and 25-11.  In the final set, the Thunder again prevailed winning the set 15-6. The NC A team was on a roll that night and added another win to their record.

In the next match, the NC 8th grade B team also dominated the Kaws in the first two sets with scores of 25-10 and 25-9. The last set was a battle for the B team, but they managed to pull off the win, 15-11. The NC B team improved on the season by getting their second win.

"We have made a lot of improvements from the first day of practice, both 7th and 8th grade,” said Camryn Kaster.

The NC 7th grade A team added another big win to their season. The Thunder beat the Kaws in the first set 25-18.  In the second set, the Kaws turned the score around and beat the Thunder team 18-25. In the last set, the Thunder girls battled to get the victory, 15-7. The Thunder 7th grade A team also picked up their second win of the season.

In the final 7th grade match, the NC  B team played hard but could not get the first set win, losing 21-25. The NC girls rebounded well and came out in the second set determined to win.  They played much better and were able to win the second set  25-14.  In the third and deciding set, both teams battled for a lead.  However, both teams were playing tough and it was a close one, but the Thunder girls were able to hold on and win the match with a score of 16-14 in the final set.  The 7th grade B team managed to also stay undefeated so far this season.

"We had a good game," said Anna Hermesch.
