The first grade field trip was held on Thursday, May 10. The Nemaha Central first graders took a wild trip to the Westmoreland buffalo farm.  The students go to ride in a farm wagon out to the pasture to get a closer look at the buffalo.  Some students were even brave enough to try to feed the buffalo.  On the ride, the students saw chickens, turkeys, and buffalo bones.  The first grade learned so much about the buffalo.  Students also enjoyed a snack of delicious buffalo jerky.

"I liked seeing the babies," said Madison Ward.

"I liked feeding the chickens and stuff," said Jayla Nolte.

After they left the buffalo farm, the students went to the Wamego city park for their lunchtime. At the park, students rode a train, had a picnic, and played on the playground.  They also got to check out some old buildings near the park and the Dutch Mill.

The students would agree that they found the buffalo interesting and learned many things about them while attending their field trip.
