The Nemaha Central sixth grade class took a field trip to Snow Creek on Friday, January 19.  The excited students loaded the bus for their hour and half bus ride to Weston, Missouri.  Once the bus arrived, many were exited with mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness.  Students made their way inside the building and waited for instructions.  They were instructed on how to attach their lift pass, put on their boots, and get their skis.

Next students waited outside for a lesson on how to put their skis on. After this was mastered, students took part in lessons that had 6 stations.  Once they completed the lessons, they were all allowed to ski as much as they wanted.  They skied the whole morning and took a break for lunch when needed. Many enjoyed the lunch that was provided, however, you also could purchase food in the lodge.   Once the students were full they went back out to ski.  The students would wait for each other and then race down the hill.  Most of the students had a blast learning to ski for the first time.  Then at four, the students had to load back on the bus, for their return trip to the school. Some were sad because they enjoyed skiing and wanted to stay and ski longer.  The bus arrived back at the school with a group of tired sixth grade students.

“Snow Creek was extremely helpful for those who did not know how to ski,” said Holden Bass.
