On Saturday, January 13, the Nemaha Central Thunder B-Team boys played in a B-team basketball tournament. The NC boys played Valley Heights and Centralia. The first game with Valley Heights was a tight game most of the way. NC jumped out to an early lead outscoring their opponents 12-7 by the end of the first quarter. Blake Stallbaumer had a hot hand as he scored 6 of NC’s points. The second quarter found Valley Heights heating up as they rallied back to score 9 points to NC’s 4 points. At halftime the teams were tied 16-16. After the halftime pep talk the NC boys came out scoring and never looked back. The third quarter saw 4 NC boys scoring to take the lead by scoring 11 more points while Valley Heights only scored 4 points making the score 27-20. The Valley Heights Mustangs tried to come back in the 4th quarter by scoring 10 points but NC continued their scoring streak by putting up 18 points. The NC boys B-team won with a 15 point margin, 45-30.

Blake Stallbaumer said, "We played good. We ran our plays. We played defense good. Then we won."

On the same day after the Valley Heights game, the boys B-team for NC played Centralia. The Centralia team won the game, although, NC was close to winning. NC played all of their players and came up a little short in the last stretch in the 4th quarter. Both teams did play great in the championship matchup.

Kolby Koch said, "Even though we lost, we played pretty good. They made it a challenge for us, however, it did make us better."
