NCMS Thunder Girls Take on Wetmore Cardinals

    On Thursday, January 4, the Nemaha Central Middle School Thunder girls took on the Wetmore Cardinals at Nemaha Central. The B-Team was the first to play that night. The Thunder girls started off well with 21 points in the first half while Wetmore trailed behind with only 4 points. After the halftime talk, the Thunder girls were feeling confident and were ready to have some fun in the second half. The Thunder girls continued to play very well scoring 14 points in the second half. The Thunder girls won the game with a score of 35 to 12.

    “I’m proud of my team and we did really well,” said Keirsten Huerter.

    Next, it was the A-Team’s turn to play. The Thunder girls were ready to play as hard as they could. In the first half the girls trumped the Cardinals scoring 22 points, while only allowing Wetmore to score 6 points. The team was feeling confident that they would not let the Cardinals catch up. In the second half, the Thunder girls scored 10 more points putting them at 32 while the Cardinals scored 16 more points putting them just 10 points behind at 22. The game ended and the girls walked away with their third win of the season.

    “The game was very intense towards the end,” said Ella Larkin.
