The Nemaha Central Middle School Cross Country team competed at Jackson Heights on Tuesday, October 17 for their last meet of the season. It was a great day for such competition with warm temperatures and a sunny sky. The distance being ran was 2 miles.

The middle school girls ran hard with Elena Gonzalez finishing 5th with a time of 17:13. Henriette Yemba finished close behind in 8th place with a time of 19:36.

The middle school boys finished strong with Isaac Lueger placing 3rd with a time of 16:04. Brandon Rogers was right behind him crossing the line in 4th place with a time of 17.15. Jack Holthaus sprinted up to the finish in 5th place with a time of 17:52. Owen Carpenter came in behind him in sixth place with a time of 20:25.

Elena Gonzalez said, “I think I ran good and I hope to do it again next year.”

“Our runners performed great. They may have saved their best for the last race. The guys and girls showed great improvement through the season and I look forward to coaching them again,” said Coach Jon Thomas.

Overall the team ran great! This was their last meet of the season, but all the competitors are seventh graders so we hope to see them out there again next year!
