The Nemaha Central volleyball team traveled to St. Marys to play the Bears on Thursday, October 5.  In the league that St. Marys plays, they have 4 teams.  They have a seventh grade A and B team and an eighth grade A and B team.  NC played a true matchup with them except for the 8th grade A-team, where NC played their normal A-team which consists of 7th and 8th graders.

The NC 8th grade B-team girls played an amazing volleyball match of volleyball. The B-team lost the first set in a hard fought battle 25-20. They revamped, thanks to a serving streak by Nicole Hammes, and came out to win the second set 25-15. The momentum was with the Thunder as they held on and came out to win the third set 15-13. The NC 8th grade A-team was blown out in the first set by a score of 25-13 but fought a hard battle against St. Marys.  The second set ended with the same result but, NC made it a thrilling finish by keeping the game close with a nail biting score of 25-22. It was a very exciting game.

Lilly Schultejans said, "They were a hard team, but it was good practice to play against them."

The NC 7th grade A-team girls showed up and played outstanding volleyball. NC won their first volleyball set by blowing the St. Marys volleyball team away, with a dominating score of 25-11. The second match was much closer with a score of 25-20. The 7th grade B-team fell behind in the first set and couldn’t recover. They ended up losing that set 17- 25. The second set ended up with NC putting up a good fight but fell a little short with a thrilling score of 25-22.
