Nemaha Central Competes at a Fun Run in Sabetha

    The Nemaha Central Middle School Cross Country team competed at a 3rd-8th grade fun run on Thursday, October 5. The top 5 boys and girls in 3-5 grades were awarded medals. The top 5 girls and boys in grades 6-8 were awarded medals. There were several schools there including the following: Rossville, Sabetha, Marysville, Jackson Heights, and ACCHS, who all battled for top finishes. The distance they were running in this fun run was 0.8 of a mile.

    In the girls 6-8 grade division, Elena Gonzalez finished 9th with a time of 6.24. Henriette Yemba finished directly after Gonzalez at 10th place with a time of 6.30.

    In the 6-8 grade division, Isaac Lueger placed 14th with a time of 5:59. Jack Holthaus ran it up to finish 16th with a time of 6.11. Brandon Rogers was right behind Holthaus crossing the line 17th with a time of 6.12. Owen Carpenter finished 20th, with a time of 6.57.

    Owen Carpenter said, “It was an easy go, but still was a good thing for us to test our skills.”    

    There were other Nemaha Central Elementary contestants that were able to compete. In the 3-5 grade division Kaden Peterson finished 1st with a time of 5.05, while Miles Carpenter finished 13th with a time of 5:49 in the 6-8 grade division.
